Description
Fractional Lasers in Aesthetic Skin Therapy

This course focuses on the advanced, informed use of fractional lasers in practice – with particular attention to CO₂ and Er:YAG lasers and modern ablative-biostimulating technologies (including helium plasma / cold plasma systems).
The aim is to give you practical knowledge to choose the right technology for each indication and to consciously control depth, injury profile and tissue response.
What the course covers
1. How each technology affects tissue
- absorption characteristics (water, soft tissue)
- penetration depth and ablation vs coagulation profile
- CO₂ vs Er:YAG (ablation vs minimal thermal zone)
- hybrid and plasma technologies – their effect on remodelling and regeneration
2. Indications and choosing the right technology
- static wrinkles vs photoageing vs scars
- thin skin vs thick, lax tissue
- high-risk areas (eyelids, neck)
- when to choose ablation and when a non-ablative or low-energy fractional approach
3. Treatment parameters and precision
- energy, density, pulse duration, stacking
- controlling depth and distribution of ablative columns
- modern scanning and micropulse systems
- technologies that improve repeatability and safety
4. Treatment risks and how to minimise them
- PIH, overheating, scarring, infection
- risks in sensitive areas (periorbital, neck)
- the importance of client selection and skin preparation
- post-treatment and recovery protocols
5. Combination therapy
- laser + biostimulators / PRP / polynucleotides
- laser + microneedling RF / HIFU
- laser-assisted drug delivery (LADD)
- sequencing treatments and avoiding tissue overload
6. Emerging technologies and future directions
- systems with adjustable thermal profiles
- ultra-short pulses and energy modulation
- integrating imaging and personalised treatment
- developments in laser, plasma and hybrid technologies
The course is clinical and practical – it centres on making treatment decisions, not just operating devices. You will learn how to match the technology to a specific tissue problem and achieve maximum results with minimal risk of complications.
